Thanks to a coordinated effort between the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Wayne County Chief Executive Office, Wayne County Department of Technology and New World Systems (now Tyler Technologies New World Public Safety), we will soon implement new Jail Management System software. JMS is designed to help facilitate jail operations and inmate management. This new system will replace the current inmate management software that has been in place since 1999. This project is the largest IT implementation in the County since we went live with the current system. It offers interfaces and integrated technology that are impossible with our current system. As the Sheriff's personnel becomes accustomed to the new software, this system will increase the efficiency of jail operations, reporting capabilities and reduce liability. As consumers of our services and taxpayers, we want you to be assured that we're doing all we can to maximize the funding provided to the agency. When I became Sheriff, chief among my goals was to reduce the duplication of processes that had us paying for efforts and programs that could be conducted more economically. In this technological age we must be able to track information and inmates effortlessly. When someone conducts business in one of our facilities, you shouldn't expect to wait endlessly while information in hard copy is tracked down. If we can document the movements and whereabouts of products across the globe we should be able to retrieve all the information we need on an individual, employee or program in the jail with a few button clicks or the swipe of an icon. Cutting down on physical activities also reduces the opportunity for human error. And that goes a long way in helping to make public safety a priority for everyone. Thank you and be safe!
