Jail Health Services

Mission Statement

To achieve optimal patient outcomes by maximizing the quality and utilization of health care.
Scope of Services
Jail Health Services (JHS) runs two ambulatory health clinics, one in the Downtown Detroit facility and one in Hamtramck.  Each of the clinics is operated by a quality group of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and other health care professionals.  Most primary care concerns are managed onsite at one of the clinics.  A full formulary pharmacy provides inmates access to medication as prescribed by Jail physicians.  JHS partners with several community health systems to provide specialty consultation and treatment offsite from the jail when necessary.  JHS also operates a mental health program that is staffed by licensed psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.  Special housing is available for mental health consumers who need to be separated from the general population.
Anyone who has information or concerns regarding the health care of a person being held at the Wayne County Jail can call and leave a message at 313 224-7774. Your message will be promptly attended to. Thank you. The Health Team at Wayne County HVCW.
