On Sunday, August 21, 2016, Sheriff Benny N. Napoleon and the men and women of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office will join Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Church organizers say they’re excited to present this event for the first time and plan to make it an annual celebration. Wayne and Oakland County Sheriff’s Offices were invited to “Bridging the Gap with Our Community” along with other law enforcement agencies.

'We're in the neighborhoods everyday meeting with citizens and leaders, so it's only fitting that we support each other in fellowship," said Sheriff Napoleon.  "We're all working toward the same goal—improving quality of life. This special day will help remind everyone we’re in it together.”

Church organizers say due to the current climate involving police and the community, it’s important to bridge the gap of understanding. A special prayer for all law enforcement personnel will be given by Bishop J. Drew Sheard, Senior Pastor.  Join in the service at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 19190 Schaefer Highway, Detroit.
